Coastal paths lined with elegant villas, sandy beaches dotted with classic beach huts and a lively weekly market make this seaside town one of the highlights of the Emerald Coast.

Often described as the resort town to Saint-Malo’s historic port, Dinard offers a different atmosphere across the Rance estuary. This walking route leads through the centre of town before following the surrounding coastal paths for a true sense of what makes Dinard unique.

This route explores Dinard’s beaches, Belle Époque villas and dramatic coastal paths along the Emerald Coast.

Tourist Information & L’Écluse Beach: Begin at the tourist information office in the centre of town, just steps from Dinard’s main beach. Plage de l’Écluse is the heart of the resort, known for its striped beach tents and classic seaside atmosphere.
Pointe du Moulinet: Continue toward Pointe du Moulinet, where the headland offers beautiful views back across the bay toward Saint-Malo’s ramparts.
Claire de Lune Path: Follow the coastal path known as the Promenade du Clair de Lune. This beautifully landscaped walkway is lined with exotic plants and elegant villas and offers sweeping views across the Rance estuary.
Dinard Market Hall: Leave the coast briefly and climb back toward the centre of town to reach Les Halles de Dinard. The covered market is open daily, with the full outdoor market taking place several times a week.
Saint-Enogat: Continue toward the historic neighbourhood of Saint-Enogat, the original fishing village that later became the resort town of Dinard. Admire the seaside architecture and pause here at one of the restaurants or on the beach.
Chemin des Douaniers: Join the famous GR34 coastal path, once used by customs officers to patrol the coastline. Follow this dramatic path back toward Dinard, enjoying views across the English Channel and the rugged shoreline below.

Getting There
Dinard can be reached by bus from Rennes (about 1h40) or by ferry across the estuary from Saint-Malo (around 15 minutes).
Tides
The tides along the Emerald Coast are among the largest in Europe. At high tide some of the coastal path may be submerged – deviations are well signposted.
Best Time to Visit
Summer brings a lively seaside atmosphere, can be busy during peak holiday weeks. Spring and early autumn are wonderful times to visit Dinard, the weather is mild and the beaches are quieter.
Market Days
The main market takes place Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings around the Halles de Dinard.
Beach Tents
In summer you’ll see the iconic striped beach tents on Plage de l’Écluse. These can be rented for the day and are a classic part of the Dinard seaside experience.
